What is a Koan? A Koan is a short story or a metaphysical poem which expresses a moment of Shang Chi; i.e. a moment of enlightenment, but it may also shed enlightenment on a point of life and existence itself, often explaining the right and wrong and morals of everyday life and often leading one onto a higher level of thought and consciousness.

Shang Chi is also a blessing, for to wish one a moment of enlightenment is to wish them a blessing from Buddha himself.
